February

The Revolution is making simple tasks so much more difficult. I was only able to acquire French silk for Rosaura’s wedding dress by negotiating with a man dealing smuggled goods. Tita is still acting immature and child-like. She will do anything to get my attention! Tita almost ruined the wedding cake today, because she thought she heard a chicken inside of the egg! It wasn’t until at the reception, after it was too late, that I found out that Tita destroyed the wedding. Some ingredient in the cake caused everyone to become completely hysterical. All of the guests were crying and vomiting uncontrollably. Tita knew how much this wedding meant to all of us, and she ruined it. To make matters even worse, Nacha, our family’s chef, is dead, and was found with a picture of her fiancé.

  1. That is not true! I did not add an extra ingredient to the cake to ruin the wedding! The only extra ingredient was my tears. It is not my fault that the wedding was ruined!

  2. Tita, you should have been more careful! Your irresponsible behavior will cause you trouble later in life!

  3. After the port in Veracruz was blocked, I can only imagine how difficult it was to get your hands on fine linen!
